Two men hold up Westport bank

Two men robbed the Great American Bank branch in Westport Tuesday and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash, according to federal investigators.

The robbery occurred about 1:45 p.m. at the branch at 39th and Main street. The robbers walked into the bank and demanded money from the tellers. Neither of the men brandished a weapon and fled in an unknown direction.

Both robbers were described as African-American. One was 6 feet 1 inch, heavy set, in his late 40s to early 50s. He wore a gray baseball cap, a light blue striped shirt and dark pants. The other was 5 feet 7 inches, heavy set and also in his late 40s to early 50s. He wore a black hat with a gray bill, and a light gray Polo shirt with black and white stripes.

Authorities ask anyone with information about the robbery to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (474-8477).
