Shooting at KCK home leaves one dead; person of interest in custody, police say

Police officers with a search dog were stalking through snowy streets and back alleys near North 10th Street and Ohio Avenue in Kansas City, Kan., Monday after a suspect fled a home where a man was shot and killed.

A third person inside the home witnessed the shooting and was talking to police, said Officer Tom Tomasic, a Kansas City, Kan., police spokesman.

Multiple gunshots were reported at the home about 9:50 a.m. The victim was shot several times, police said.

Police think the suspect and the victim knew each other, and were in the house together when the shooting happened.

By Tuesday, the deceased man was identified as 23-year-old Ronald T. Marks Jr., according to news release from police.

A person of interest was taken into custody, police also announced Tuesday.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
