Series of armed robberies targets 7-Eleven stores in Kansas City
A series of armed robberies at 7-Eleven convenience stores early Wednesday in Kansas City is under investigation by police.
The first robbery was reported just before 2 a.m. at a 7-Eleven in the 8900 block of Wornall Road.
Two men dressed in gray sweatshirts stole an undisclosed amount of cash and ran away. One of the robbers had a red towel covering his face.
About 30 minutes later, two men dressed in gray sweatshirts and white tennis shoes tried to enter a 7-Eleven store at 111th Street and Grandview Road.
As in the previous robbery, one of the men had a red towel wrapped around his face. The robbers were unable to get into the store because the clerk kept the door locked. The men walked away without being able to get in, police said.
Just before 4 a.m., police responded to an armed holdup at a 7-Eleven located in the 3200 block of Independence Avenue.
One robber wore a gray hooded sweatshirt with a white T-shirt pulled over his face. The second robber wore a black hooded sweatshirt pulled tight over his face and carried a black backpack. The men stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.
No arrests have been made in the robberies, police said. No injuries were reported.
