Former Johnson County bank vice president gets probation in federal conspiracy case
A former Johnson County banker has been sentenced to probation after being convicted of helping someone lie on a loan application.
Michael W. Yancey, formerly a vice president at a bank in Overland Park, was also banned from working as a banker as part of his plea agreement with federal prosecutors.
Yancey, 59, of Olathe, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kan., to conspiracy to make a false statement on a loan application.
He had been a senior vice president and commercial lender for Farmer’s Bank & Trust in Overland Park when he committed the crime in 2007.
The case involved Yancey conspiring with another person to provide false information to obtain and maintain an $850,000 business loan, according to federal prosecutors.
Yancey was charged and pleaded guilty in 2014. He was sentenced Tuesday.
