Kansas City, Kan. police are investigating a shooting early Friday that left a man with life-threatening injuries.

The incident was reported just before 7:30 a.m. in the 3300 block of Delavan Avenue. Arriving officers found the victim inside of a residence with several gunshot wounds, according to police.

The victim was rushed to a hospital where he underwent surgery. His condition was not released.

Police took a person of interest in the shooting into custody. Details of what prompted the shooting were not immediately released.
