Getaway driver pleads guilty in post-graduation shooting at Leawood church

One of two men charged in connection with a shooting in May outside of a Leawood church pleaded guilty Thursday.

Rasheed Henderson admitted that he drove an SUV that fled from police after two people were wounded in the parking lot of the United Methodist Church of the Resurrection.

The church was hosting the graduation ceremony for Kansas City’s Center High School.

Henderson, 20, of Kansas City, was arrested in August and has been held in the Johnson County Jail. He pleaded guilty Thursday in Johnson County District Court to charges of fleeing and eluding and interference with law enforcement.

Both counts are felonies. His sentencing was scheduled for Jan. 9.

Co-defendant Damon Gwinn allegedly fired shots during the incident and is charged with aggravated battery. His next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 13.
