A shooting near U.S. 71 and 55th Street injured a person Tuesday afternoon, Kansas City police said.

According to Sgt. Jacob Becchina, a police spokesman, police were dispatched after 3 p.m. on a shooting in the area. Police located a male victim with injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Police were looking for a suspect but have not released a description.

Becchina said officers were investigating the incident as an aggravated assault.
