Murder-suicide suspected in deaths of two in Shawnee

Police investigated a suspected murder-suicide Sunday afternoon near Shawnee Riverfront Park, in western Shawnee.

Shortly before 1 p.m., police found two people dead in the 5500 block of Frisbie Road. Investigators were working at the scene, along the remote gravel road, late into the afternoon.

Officers had been asked to check the area for a person thought to be endangered, based on information provided by the Kansas City Police Department, according to a news release from Shawnee police.

Shawnee police said the deaths were being investigated as a murder-suicide. The Investigations Bureau of the Shawnee Police Department is investigating.
