Driver critically hurt after fleeing police in KC
A driver suffered life-threatening injuries late Monday night after fleeing from Kansas City police and wrecking.
An officer tried to pull over the driver about 10:45 p.m. Monday near Independence and Kensington avenues. He refused to stop. The officer did not pursue and lost sight of the vehicle, a Chevrolet El Camino, according to police.
A short time later, the El Camino ran a stop sign at Drury and St. John avenues and struck another car. The El Camino overturned in the driveway of a house in the 100 block of South Drury Avenue. The driver was taken to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. Police said the driver of the other car was not injured.
