Double shooting reported in KCK, police say one person killed

One person died and another was injured in a shooting Tuesday night inside a Kansas City, Kan., home, police said.

Police were called to a shooting around 5:30 p.m. in the 1600 block of North 85th Street. When officers arrived, they found a male victim dead inside the home.

The other victim was found at a nearby residence where he went for help, according to Officer Zac Blair, a police spokesman. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives remained at the scene late Tuesday.

“Not much is known at this point. A lot of the evidence, a lot of things that we’re going to collect and look at and those pieces that we’re putting together are inside the residence. Once we get that warrant and get inside and start collecting that evidence, then we’ll know more,” Blair said.

Blair also said police were not actively searching for a suspect.

The identity of the deceased has not yet been released by authorities.
