Soulful folk duo Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear’s gear stolen in New Jersey

Acoustic-folk duo Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear had to cancel shows in two cities after their van and trailer containing their musical gear was stolen Friday morning in North Bergen, New Jersey, the band announced on Twitter.

Madisen Ward and his mother, Ruth, make up the group from Independence.

The group announced on Twitter Friday that its van and trailer was stolen and they were forced to cancel their Boston and Philadelphia shows.

“We love you and will absolutely make it up to you!” they told fans.

In a later Tweet, the group said one of the items stolen might provide a big lead in the case — a Collings D-1 acoustic guitar that had mahogany on the back and sides and a Sitka spruce top. It has the Serial No. 25003.

Madisen Ward and the Mama Bear is on tour currently. The band listed shows in Portland, Maine, Charlotte, Atlanta, Austin, Dallas, Phoenix, San Diego and Los Angeles on its website.
