Firework thrown from car injures Independence girl. Police ask for public’s help
Police in Independence were asking for the public’s help after someone allegedly threw a lit firework out of a car and hit a girl.
The incident was reported in the 15100 block of East Truman Road, the Independence Police Department said in a Facebook post Wednesday night.
According to police, a female juvenile was standing on the sidewalk in front of her home when a silver Chevrolet Impala drove by. Someone inside the vehicle threw the firework, which exploded as it hit the girl, police said. She suffered minor injuries.
Police believe there were three or four young men in the car.
A surveillance photo released with the police department’s Facebook post showed one individual police were attempting to identify as part of the investigation.
