Man suspected of shooting at Johnson County sheriff’s deputy surrenders
The man suspected of shooting at a deputy investigating a construction site burglary has peacefully surrendered, according to Johnson County authorities.
The man was arrested around 1:15 p.m., near 175th Street and Nall Avenue.
The incident began just after midnight at 191st Street and State Line Road. After authorities received a call that someone was stealing items from a construction site, deputies spotted a person at the scene. The man fired a shot as a deputy approached him. The deputy was not injured but was unable to return fire, said Deputy Jill Koch with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
The gunman fled in an unknown area. Deputies searched a 20-mile area, from 159th to 199th streets and from Metcalf Avenue to State Line Road.
