Pizza delivery worker shot during attempted robbery, KC police say

A man trying to deliver pizza Wednesday night was shot in the leg during an attempted robbery, Kansas City police said in a news release.

The shooting happened in the 3600 block of Brooklyn Avenue.

Officers went to the scene about 6:15 p.m. and found a male victim in fair condition.

The victim told police he was delivering pizza in the neighborhood when two people tried to rob him at gunpoint.

He was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Witnesses told police the suspects fled to a nearby home after the shooting.

Following a nearly four-hour standoff, officers went into the home, but the suspects weren’t there, police later said in a statement.

The investigation was ongoing.
