A teenager was found shot to death in the middle of a park on the northeast side of Kansas City Tuesday night, police said.
Police identified the victim as 18-year-old Zyhame Jones.
Officer Darin Snapp, a Kansas City Police Department spokesman, said officers received a call about 7 p.m. in regard to a shooting in Sheffield Park, which is located at 12th Street and Winchester Avenue.
Police found Jones lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound.
Police said they don’t think many people were in the park at the time of the shooting but said they talked to at least two witnesses who heard gunfire.
No description of a suspect has been released.
Police are investigating the death as a homicide.
