Former Kansas City doctor gets federal prison for online sharing of child porn
A former Kansas City-area doctor was sentenced to seven years and six months in federal prison Tuesday for child pornography.
Jeffrey A. Hassenflug, 43, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, where he pleaded guilty in April to a charge of distribution of child pornography over the internet.
Hassenflug was charged in December 2016 after an FBI agent traced internet images of child porn back to a computer owned by Hassenflug.
In a subsequent search of his computer, investigators documented more than 3,000 still images and about 130 video files depicting sexually explicit images of children, according to a plea agreement.
Many of the images showed babies and toddlers being sexually abused, according to the document.
Hassenflug was practicing medicine in Texas when he was charged, and medical officials there suspended his medical license as a result, according to records.
