A police pursuit across Johnson County Sunday morning ended in a wreck that left two people hospitalized, according to authorities.

Shortly before 10 a.m., police in Lenexa tried to pull over a Toyota 4Runner that had been reported stolen, said Claire Canaan, a spokeswoman for the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The Toyota did not stop, instead continuing south along Interstate 35 to Olathe, where it again eluded police.

The Kansas Highway Patrol picked up the pursuit as the Toyota continued on to Spring Hill.

Spring Hill police followed the Toyota as it entered the city, but remained at a distance as the Toyota entered a residential area, Canaan said.

At the intersection of Madison and Nichols streets, the Toyota struck another vehicle and wrecked.

Two people in the Toyota were injured. They were taken to a hospital, where they were in stable condition.

No other injuries were reported.

A police investigation of the wreck continued.
