Murderer draws life sentence for Independence slaying

A Jackson County judge sentenced a convicted murderer Wednesday to life in prison for second-degree murder and armed criminal action convictions in the Sept. 30, 2013, shooting death of Thomas Kuether in an Independence motel.

Jackson County Circuit Court Judge Charles H. McKenzie sentenced Krepps, 38, to two life sentences, which are to run concurrently.

Several witnesses in the motel room told Independence police that Krepps had been preparing to complete a tattoo when he pulled a revolver and shot Kuether.
