Raytown mom uses hidden camera to catch boyfriend taking lewd photos

Suspicion about a boyfriend’s behavior around her 6-year-old daughter prompted a Raytown woman to place a hidden camera in the girl’s bedroom.

Video captured early Sunday prompted her to call police.

And what police saw led them to arrest 30-year-old Joshua W. Bibby, who now is charged in Jackson County Circuit Court with sexual exploitation of a child.

According to allegations in court documents, the video showed Bibby entering the 6-year-old’s bedroom with his own camera, exposing her genitals and taking pictures. He also appeared to masturbate while watching the sleeping child, according to the documents.

Bibby did not give a statement to police after his arrest.

The mother told police that she installed the camera after catching Bibby in her daughter’s room several times while she was asleep.

She installed the camera Saturday. Early Sunday, she told Bibby she was leaving to go to the store with a friend. Her cellphone was set up to receive a live feed from the camera. Shortly after they left, the woman saw Bibby in her daughter’s room, according to court records.

She immediately called Raytown police. Officers arrested Bibby inside the house.

Bibby made his first court appearance Monday. He was being held in custody in lieu of a $200,000 cash bond.
