Kansas City man charged in robbery of Commerce Bank in Brookside

Federal prosecutors on Monday charged a Kansas City man in the Saturday robbery of a Brookside bank.

They accused Frank L. White, 35, of holding up the Commerce Bank branch at 6336 Brookside Plaza.

Kansas City police detectives heading toward the robbery scene Saturday morning spotted a man matching the robber’s description walking near 65th Street and Holmes Road. When the man saw the officers, he ran, according to court documents filed in federal court.

White allegedly broke into a house in the 600 block of East 65th Terrace and confronted the homeowner. He told the man that he had a gun and demanded his car keys. The man refused and told him to get out of his house, according to the documents.

White ran from the house without taking anything and was arrested by police outside, court records said.

When arrested, White was carrying the same amount of money taken in the bank robbery and a note that read, “All hundreds I gotta gun be quick so nobody gets hurt,” according to court documents.
