Liberty man pleads guilty in bogus ID scheme

A Liberty man pleaded guilty Monday in federal court to conspiring to produce thousands of bogus identity documents that were sold to illegal immigrants.

Cesar Mujica-Aranda, 25, a Mexican citizen, admitted that he managed the document production at his Liberty apartment from September 2013 to Feb. 21, 2014.

Street dealers paid him about $50 per document and they would keep any excess proceeds from reselling the document to the end users.

Mujica-Aranda produced illegal residence cards, Social Security cards and false state and Mexican driver’s licenses.
