Man who left caged dog to die in vacant KC apartment gets probation
A Kansas City man whose dog was found dead in a cage after he vacated his apartment has been placed on probation for two years.
Blayne Theunissen, 25, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Platte County Circuit Court to a misdemeanor charge of animal abandonment.
He was sentenced to 15 days in jail, but the sentence was suspended pending successful completion of his probation.
He was also ordered to perform 40 hours of community service. He is prohibited from owning any animals while on probation.
According to Fox 4 in Kansas City, the charge stemmed from last September when Theunissen was evicted from his apartment in Kansas City, North.
