Home search leads to explosives charge against Lenexa man

Prosecutors accused a 27-year-old Lenexa man Friday of possessing materials used to make explosives.

Overland Park police found the materials Thursday while serving a search warrant at a Lenexa house in the 13700 block of West 75th Terrace.

The search warrant pertained to an unrelated, ongoing investigation, according to Overland Park police.

On Friday, Johnson County prosecutors charged David Andrew Stagner with criminal use of explosives, a felony. Court documents don’t identify the materials. Stagner’s bond was set at $100,000.

Though it is against the law to possess the materials, investigators found no indication that they were intended for any “malicious use,” police said.
