A Kansas City woman has been charged with falsely claiming that she was attacked and sexually assaulted while jogging in Overland Park.

Johnson County prosecutors charged Pamela Sue Calvert, 48, with felony counts of giving a false alarm and interference with law enforcement.

Calvert was booked into the Johnson County Detention Center on Thursday and later released after posting a bond of $2,500.

Her initial court appearance is scheduled for March 20.

Overland Park police said that the attack was reported about 6:30 a.m. Jan. 13 on the trail near Indian Creek Drive and Lamar Avenue.

But later that day police issued a written statement:

"The Overland Park Police Department has determined after intense follow up, the sexual assault on the Indian Creek Trail near Lamar is unfounded."
