Hit-and-run driver leaves Kansas City pedestrian with life-threatening injuries
A motorist who struck a pedestrian pushing his bicycle early Wednesday fled the area but later turned herself in to Kansas City police.
The incident happened about 3 a.m. as the pedestrian was pushing a BMX bicycle west on Emanuel Cleaver II Boulevard at Bruce R. Watkins Drive. He sustained life-threatening injuries, according to police.
A sport utility vehicle struck the man from behind, police said. The driver stopped briefly before driving away west on Cleaver Boulevard. While officers were at the accident scene, they received word that the driver had turned herself in at the Central Patrol Division.
The incident remains under investigation.
