KC woman charged in boyfriend’s fatal stabbing
Clay County authorities have accused a 47-year-old woman of stabbing her boyfriend to death following an argument late Saturday.
They charged Emma Jean Hyson of Kansas City, North, with second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the slaying of 52-year-old Kenneth M. Wilcox. Bond was set at $250,000.
According to court records, the stabbing occurred Saturday inside an apartment in the 100 block of N.W. Harlem Road. Hyson said told investigators that she grabbed a knife and stabbed Wilcox before she passed out for several hours. When she woke, Wilcox was dead. She called police.
Officers found Wilcox sprawled face down on the apartment floor. A 9-year-old witness later told police he took the knife used in the attack and wiped blood from it and gave it to another witness. The second witness took the knife and threw it over a fence into a pile of junk so no other kids would find it and harm themselves. Officers tried to locate the knife but could not find it, according to court records.
