Woman found dead after reports of gunfire near Ninth and Indiana in KC
Kansas City police are investigating after a woman was found dead Sunday night near Ninth Street and Indiana Avenue.
Police received a call just after 10 p.m. regarding an outside disturbance. When officers arrived, witnesses said they had heard several gunshots. Officers soon found an unresponsive black female at the scene.
She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a Police Department news release.
Police Chief Darryl Forté tweeted that homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were responding to the scene.
