Charges filed after big KCK meth bust

Federal prosecutors filed charges Thursday against a truck driver arrested in Kansas City, Kan., after authorities found nearly 100 pounds of methamphetamine in his vehicle.

Domingo Uriarte, 41, of Los Angeles, was arrested Tuesday after the drugs were discovered during a Kansas Highway Patrol traffic stop in the area of 10th Street and Kansas Avenue.

Prosecutors charged him in U.S. District Court in Kansas City, Kan., with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.

The drugs, packaged in 15 bundles, were inside a large wooden crate that contained a metal lathe, investigators said.

As authorities inspected the truck, Uriarte attempted to run away but was captured quickly, prosecutors said.
