A Liberty man was sentenced to prison on Friday for attempting to distribute child pornography.
Mark Anthony Barrett, 60, will spend eight years in a federal prison without the possibility of parole, followed by 15 years of supervised release, according to Don Ledford, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney’s office for the Western District of Missouri.
Barrett also must pay as much as $5,000 in restitution to one of the victims portrayed in his collection of pornography.
Investigators seized 272 images and 76 video files of child pornography from Barrett’s devices. Barrett admitted he used peer-to-peer file-sharing software to download and share child pornography.
The age of the victims in the images and videos ranged from toddler to prepubescent, according to the release.
Barrett pleaded guilty in October.
