Overland Park man held after trying to photograph woman in JCCC restroom

An Overland Park man was in custody Monday after he was chased down by a woman he’d tried secretly to photograph in a restroom on the Johnson County Community College campus.

The incident, listed as a breach of privacy on the county sheriff’s booking log, occurred about 2 p.m. Monday in the Offices and Classrooms Building on the Overland Park campus.

College officials said the man was not a student or a staff member. The Johnson County district attorney’s office said it was considering charges, but none had been filed by Tuesday afternoon.

The woman told campus police she noticed a man using some type of electronic device to photograph her in the stall. He ran and she chased after him. Members of a construction crew on campus stopped the man and campus police arrested him.

“The good news is that we caught him right away,” said Christy McWard, a college spokeswoman.
