Liberty High School students suspended for sharing inappropriate material
Eight Liberty High School male students have been suspended for sharing inappropriate material on school property, district officials said Tuesday.
Inappropriate images were found on student cellphones and other personal electronic devices. Some had been posted through social media outlets. The district notified police, said Dallas Ackerman, district spokesman. A police spokesman said the department is investigating.
School officials also spoke with several additional students who either saw or knew about the images. The district notified parents Friday about the situation.
“The range of discipline handed out to students was based off of inappropriate activity on personal devices and the level of disruption to school caused by the actions of individuals during the school day, on school premises, or at a school activity,” the district said in a written statement.
Ackerman said the situation should remind students to use good judgment before posting anything online. Some images posted on social media can remain online years later, he said.
