Prosecutors charge KC woman in knife attack outside Westport’s Riot Room
Jackson County prosecutors have charged a 25-year-old woman with stabbing another woman outside the Riot Room, a Westport concert venue.
Barbrianna Jenae Perkins of Kansas City is charged with first-degree assault for the incident on Nov. 27 in the parking lot at 40th Street and Broadway Boulevard.
Prosecutors allege the victim sustained five stab wounds to her chest, neck, arm and back. The victim told investigators Perkins had gone to the venue to start trouble.
The argument between the women quickly turned into a fight. The victim said Perkins brandished a knife with a silver blade and a serrated edge and stabbed her. Two men broke up the fight, according to court records.
The victim noticed blood coming from her chest as she and a friend walked toward their car.
Perkins and another woman drove away. Emergency crews took the victim to a hospital, where she was treated for multiple stab wounds.
Perkins later surrendered to police but refused to speak to detectives.
