Man threatening to kill people inside KCK house with 5 children surrenders
A police standoff with a man threatening to kill people inside a Kansas City, Kan., house with five children ended peacefully Tuesday morning.
Police responded about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday to a call to a home near 51st Street and Leavenworth Road in the Welborn Lake area of Kansas City, Kan.
A woman told police that a verbal argument had escalated and she feared for her safety, police said. A man in the home was allegedly threatening to kill people, and five children were in the house.
The woman told police the man had weapons inside the home, police said.
The Kansas City, Kan., Police Department called in its Special Operations Unit. Negotiators were able to deescalate the situation and the suspect peacefully surrendered, police said.
The five children were found unharmed in the home and able to get out of the house safely.
