KCK police find ‘training grenade’ in stolen work van
Kansas City, Kan., police were investigating a report of what appeared to be a hand grenade found inside a stolen work van in the 3500 block of Wyandotte Avenue on Monday night.
Police at the scene said the device was found in an abandoned work van during a vehicle check on Wyandotte Avenue before 6:45 p.m. Monday.
Kansas City, Kan. Police Chief Terry Zeigler later tweeted that the device turned out to be “a training grenade,” not a weapon. A member of the Kansas City, Kan., police bomb squad was seen approaching the van and recovering the device.
Zeigler had said in a tweet around 6:45 p.m. Monday that officers were investigating on the scene after finding the device in the van.
