Man charged with robbery of woman at Johnson County Community College
A 20-year-old Olathe man is charged with robbing a woman in a parking lot at Johnson County Community College.
Mark Waweru is charged in Johnson County District Court with aggravated robbery. His bond is set at $50,000.
The robbery was reported Friday afternoon in a parking lot on the college campus in Overland Park.
The victim suffered several cuts to her hands during the incident in which she was robbed of her car keys, financial cards and driver’s license, according to court documents.
A campus police spokesman said that the suspect escaped, but investigators were able to get the license plate number of a getaway vehicle and Waweru was arrested later Friday.
He made an initial court appearance Monday afternoon and requested a court-appointed lawyer. He will be back in court Feb. 8.
