Man who was fleeing Kansas trooper pleads guilty in KCK woman’s traffic death
A Kansas City, Kan., man has pleaded guilty to killing a woman while he was fleeing from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
David W. Colvin, 47, pleaded guilty to a charge of involuntary manslaughter in the August 2016 death of 66-year-old Janet Eimer.
Eimer, of Kansas City, Kan., died when a vehicle driven by Colvin ran a red light and collided with the passenger side of her vehicle at 18th Street and Kansas Avenue.
Shortly before the crash, a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper tried to pull over Colvin’s vehicle for a traffic offense, but he drove away.
The patrol said at the time that the trooper had not started to pursue the vehicle, but was following at a distance when the crash occurred.
Colvin’s sentencing is scheduled for March 23.
