Man fleeing police dies after crashing pickup into retaining wall in Atchison

A man allegedly leading police on a chase died when the pickup truck he was driving crashed into a retaining wall.

The Missouri Highway Patrol identified the deceased as Raymond Bosch Jr., 45, of Effingham, Kan.

The crash occurred about 1:10 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of 22nd and Main streets in Atchison. Police were chasing Bosch, who was driving a 2004 Silverado 2500 pickup truck, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Bosch was headed west on Main and failed to maneuver a curve. The pickup truck drove across a lawn and struck a brick retaining wall. The truck rolled and came to rest on its top.

Bosch, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.
