Suspects in theft of 654 guns in Missouri arrested at ‘Redneck Heaven’
Five Texas men have been indicted on federal charges of stealing 654 firearms from tractor-trailers in Springfield.
The firearms were stolen last October while the trailers were parked in a United Parcel Service Lot.
The guns were being shipped from Beretta Firearms in Maryland to Bass Pro Shops in the Springfield area, according to federal prosecutors.
Thieves stole 600 .380-caliber handguns and 54 12-gauge shotguns, as well as a pallet of Justin brand boots, power tools and 12 cases of soda, prosecutors said.
Investigators were led to the Texas suspects after a truck stolen from another company near the UPS facility was recovered in the Dallas area.
Cell phone records showed that the five defendants were in the Springfield area around the time that the guns were stolen, according to the allegations in court documents.
All five suspects are in custody in Texas pending their transfer to Missouri.
Two of them were arrested at Redneck Heaven Restaurant & Bar in Arlington, Texas.
Prosecutors identified the men as Frank McChriston, 33, of Ponder, Texas; Keith Lowe, 28, of Dallas; Quinton Haywood, 26, of Glenn Heights; Texas, and Eric White, 26; and Derrick White, 32. No city of residence was given for them.
