Woman and man from Texas charged in Shawnee kidnapping
Two Texas residents have been charged with a September kidnapping in Shawnee.
Gisela Soto, 51, and Mario Soto, 48, were extradited from Texas and booked into the Johnson County Detention Center late Thursday night.
The alleged kidnapping occurred Sept. 2.
The victim was taken by “force, threat, or deception,” with the intent to terrorize the victim, according to the charges filed in Johnson County District Court. Available court documents don’t provide additional details.
During their initial court appearances Friday afternoon, Bond for each was modified from $100,000 to $25,000.
As a condition of bond, they were required to surrender their passports.
They are scheduled to appear in court again on Jan. 25.
