KCPD officers injured when man wielding cane attacks them

Two Kansas City police officers are being treated after they were assaulted by a man wielding a cane Friday morning at Union Station.

Officers were called just before 7 a.m. to 30 W. Pershing Road after Amtrak officials reported an unruly passenger on board.

The man, who is in his 60s, began swinging his cane when officers approached him, police said. The officers immediately arrested the man.

The injured officers were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment. It is unclear what prompted the passenger to become angry.

No other information was immediately available.
