Kansas man sentenced for attempted rape of child

A Linwood, Kan., man was sentenced Friday to nine years and 10 months in prison for the attempted sexual assault of an 8-year-old child.

Christopher King, 39, was sentenced in Leavenworth County District Court on charges of attempted rape and attempted aggravated indecent liberties with a child.

The crimes occurred in 2007 and 2008, according to prosecutors.
