U.S. marshals announce Kansas City area arrests in nationwide operation

A nationwide round-up of fugitives, gang members and other violent criminals included more than 47 arrests in the Kansas City area, the U.S. Marshals Service said Tuesday.

The six-week operation concluded earlier this month. Locally, it was concentrated in Johnson County and marshals worked with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Overland Park police, the Kansas Department of Corrections and federal immigration officials.

Ron Miller, U.S. marshal for the district of Kansas, said that across the country, more than 7,100 arrests were made and 383 firearms were seized. Ten missing children were also found as a result of what was called Operation Violence Reduction.
