A Grandview man was sentenced Wednesday to two years and nine months in prison for sex trafficking of an 18-year-old woman.

Derrick D. Horne, 27, was sentenced in federal court in Kansas City, Kan., to charges of inducing another person to cross state lines for prostitution and with being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Horne was arrested in October 2016 in Kansas City, Kan., when he brought the 18-year-old to meet a client who had responded to an online escort service ad, according to court documents.

The woman told investigators that she had met Horne on an online dating site. She said he told her he would protect her and would provide her with clothes and pay for hotel rooms.

She said she had met with one client in Missouri and gave Horne about half of the $170 she was paid for having sex.

He drove her from Missouri to Kansas City, Kan., before he was arrested, she said.
