Maximum sentence for Raytown man who photographed nude children

A 20-year-old Raytown man who photographed nude children and shared the pictures online was sentenced Tuesday to 20 years in federal prison.

Cody L. Davidson was sentenced in U.S. District Court in Kansas City where he pleaded guilty in to distributing child pornography on the internet.

Davidson was not yet 18 when he photographed two girls who were seven and eight years old, according to court documents.

But he shared some of the images online after he turned 18, according to the documents.

Federal agents in Boston came across some of the images online and the investigation led to Davidson, and several phones were confiscated after a search warrant was served at Davidson’s house.

More than 2,000 still and video images of child pornography were found on the phones, according to the documents.

Citing Davidson’s age, his attorney argued for the minimum sentence of five years in prison.

A mental health professional who examined Davidson said she believed he was a good candidate for sexual offender treatment, according to a defense sentencing memo.

Prosecutors requested the maximum of 20 years.
