65-year-old Olathe registered sex offender faces new charge in Merriam

A 65-year-old Olathe man who is a previously convicted sex offender is facing a new charge of sexual battery that occurred in Merriam.

Philip Brian Millard was booked Tuesday into the Johnson County Detention Center on the misdemeanor sexual battery charge.

The alleged incident occurred in August and involved an alleged victim older than 16, but available court documents don’t provide additional details.

Millard is listed on the Kansas sex offender registry for a conviction from Colorado for attempted sexual contact without consent.

He made an initial court appearance Tuesday afternoon and his bond was set at $5,000.
