Jail time imposed in Leavenworth mom vs. mom beat down

A 34-year-old Leavenworth woman will spend a short time in jail for beating up another woman after their children had gotten into a fight.

Amanda Lee Gross will serve four weekends in jail, but could be required to serve up to six months in jail if she violates conditions of her one-year probation imposed Wednesday.

Last month, a Leavenworth County jury found Gross guilty of a misdemeanor count of battery.

The incident happened in February after Gross’s child was in a fight with another child at school.

The mother of the other child went to Gross’s house to talk about the situation, but according to prosecutors, Gross ran outside and began punching the other woman in the face.

The victim suffered several broken facial bones, a cut on her lip required stitches and a damaged tooth had to be removed.

On Wednesday, a judge sentenced Gross to six months in jail. The sentence was suspended with the exception of four weekends in jail.

She will also have to pay restitution and court costs.
