Editor’s note: In 2019, this criminal case concluded with Bradley Wayne King pleading guilty to charges of aggravated battery and criminal threat. He was not convicted of attempted murder. He was released from prison in 2021.

An attempted murder charge was filed Wednesday after a man was critically injured Tuesday in a shooting at an Olathe mobile home community.

Johnson County prosecutors charged Bradley Wayne King, 45, with attempted first-degree murder.

He is being held in jail on a bond of $500,000.

Olathe police said the shooting occurred Tuesday morning on Santa Ana Lane in the Santa Barbara Estates community near 119th Street and North Ridgeview Road.

The victim remained hospitalized in critical condition Wednesday, according to police.

King had his first court appearance Wednesday afternoon and requested a court-appointed lawyer. He is scheduled to be back in court Dec. 21.
