Olathe man, 41, accused of sex crimes involving 14-year-old
A 41-year-old Olathe man was charged Wednesday with sodomizing a 14-year-old girl in Overland Park.
Richard Howard Howton was also charged in Johnson County District Court with using the internet to solicit sex from a minor.
The alleged sodomy occurred on Nov. 5, according to court documents, and the solicitation allegedly occurred between Nov. 9 and Tuesday, when Howton was arrested.
The day before his arrest, Howton had a court appearance in a drug case filed against him in October, according to court records.
He is charged in that case with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia and was free on bond before his arrest Tuesday.
His bond in the sex crime case is set at $250,000.
