A 27-year-old former instructor at a Shawnee music store has been accused of inappropriately touching two of his students.

Sean Andrew Dow of Overland Park is charged in Johnson County District Court with two felony counts of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. Both students are younger than 14, according to the charges.

The incidents reportedly occurred at Funky Munky Music, 12710 Shawnee Mission Parkway, where Dow taught music lessons.

A store manager said that after police contacted the store about the allegations, it immediately ended its relationship with Dow.

“We are severely disappointed about the allegations against Mr. Dow, as we have always put the safety of our students and customers first,” the store said in a written statement.

There had been no previous allegations against Dow, the store manager said. The store will take the precaution of conducting periodic background checks of staff.

Dow made his first court appearance on the charges earlier this week and was released from custody after posting a $10,000 bond. He next is scheduled to appear in court April 23.
