Woman cut, shots fired in unrelated robberies minutes apart in Overland Park
Police are investigating after a woman was cut and shots were fired inside a business during a pair of unrelated robberies minutes apart Tuesday in Overland Park.
The first robbery was reported about 8 p.m. in a parking lot near 9400 West 83rd Street. A woman told police a man armed with a knife took cash and jewelry from her before he ran off.
The woman sustained minor lacerations on her arms during a brief struggle with the suspect, police said. She told police the man was wearing dark pants and a dark colored long sleeve shirt.
About 10 minutes later a man fired at least two shots from a silver colored gun during a business robbery in the 7900 block of East Frontage Road.
The suspect ran away with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said. No injuries were reported in the incident.
The armed robbery suspect was about 18-20 years old and wore a black hoodie with a bandana covering his face.
